Have you heard about this???
New person page coming soon to Tree. You might want to go over to https://beta.familysearch.org/home/ and sign in and go to a person page.
1. The format of the Vitals section is a little different but works the same.
2. Everything below the family section is moved to the banner and no longer directly on the person page.
3. Sources are up in the banner above the Life Sketch.
4. Notes and discussions are in the banner under Collaboration.
5. Something new - on the banner is "Time Line" this is the fun part.
a. The time line can be edited by clicking on "Show" to personalize what you want shown. I love having the hints show up chronologically.
b. Map - Allows you to map the timeline facts.
What do you think?

I like the new timeline feature.

There seems to be a minor change in attaching sources. In the place where you change the focus person, I couldn't see a way to enter a PID. This is important, because sometimes you need to attach to someone who is not in the immediate family.

I agree, I didn't notice that you had the option to enter a PID number before. I would send feedback to FamilySearch about that!!

Carol Lou Hill - Thank you for posting my original post over on Yammer. The new person page just a few moments ago appeared on FamilySearch Family Tree and is now active. Everyone will be able to see it now.

Thanks for letting us know.

It was funny as I knew it was coming out today but a lunch a connection with the programmers said they had a couple of glitches and were working on them. I was working on my family history and went to a person in tree and there it was! No fanfare - just the sudden appearance. I have already had one contact email me with - what is wrong with FS? I just explained it is a new view of things.

That is funny. I'm sure there will be some people that won't like it . I like it.

There are going to be some issues. Over at Yammer one person mentioned the "History" is missing from the vitals. Also you can no longer delete discussions that are not needed. I am sure those can be put back in but on the positive side - the person page loads so much faster! I think the timeline and map have a great potential in Discovery activities with patrons.

Interesting. I love the time line and map. I also like that the collaborate is at the top. I'm sure most people didn't see the discussion or the notes.

I had a glitch the other day when I merged duplicates. The system never allows for you to merge a living person to the deceased version of the duplicate so I forgot this and tried to do so and when I made the attempt it shut the merging process down and I could not view anyone (ancestors) for that person and above. All their data was gone and I just had some funny URL on each of their tree card. I went back in about 15 minutes later and all was back to normal.

Like with any changes there are glitches. I cannot use FamilySearch in Safari with my Apple laptop. I have to go to Chrome. The blog also explains about the changes at https://www.familysearch.org/blog/en/family-tree-change-person-page/.

Yesterday, i gave an promptitude lesson on the new changes to the person page. The response was generally positive. There was one item missing - the "family" tag which allowed you to go directly to the family section of the page without scrolling.

Ben - That Safari issue seems to never go away. On my laptop I try not to use Safari because the Temple part of the program doesn't run well. In time your issue will probably be resolved as they address all the little issues that pop up in the various browsers. I love Chrome but had a problem many others had after the upgrade - for some reason the Chrome had a pop up blocker put on the "Ancestry.com " button so you couldn't go from the person page directly to Ancestry until you turned off the blocker.
Peter - I am not an insider, just have a few connections, but I believe FS will continue to refine this new person page - adding things that are needed, improving somethings (like larger type in the vitals and the button you mention) - we just need to provide feedback like here and Get Satisfaction.
