Help locating records for two Italian ancestors.
Hello,
I have an ancestor born in Novareglia, Vico Canavese, Torino, Piemonte around 1765. At that time, the region was part of the department called "Doire" of the French Empire. The information I have is the following:
Pierre Pastor (died May 14, 1845, 80 years old in Ollon, Switzerland)
Parents: Antoine Pastor & Marie Marguerite née Bellin
Married to: Marie Judith Guillat (April 9, 1807 in Bex Switzerland)
So my first question is, should I look for records in France or Italy? My guess would be Italy but I want to make sure. My second question is, which records should I look into? I have found these on Family Search:
- Registri dello stato civile di Torino (Provincia), 1744-1813
- Italy, Waldensian Evangelical Church records = Italia, Chiesa Evangelica Valdese, registri parrocchiali, 1679-1969
- Italy, Torino, Torino, civil registration (Comune) = Italia, Torino, Torino, stato civile (Comune), 1750-1865
But each time I could not find anything related to Novareglia or Vico Canavese... Am I looking in the right direction? Do the records I am looking for even exist?
Now if I may ask for the second ancestor, supposedly born in Viggiù, Varese, Lombardia:
Louis Rasetti (died March 14, 1926 in Collombey, Switzerland)
Parents: Jean Rasetti & Marie Botti
Married to: Marie-Adeline Chervaz (August 5, 1894 in Collombey)
Names might have been "Frenchified" so I'm probably looking for a Luigi, Giovanni and Maria? Are there any records I could look into in Family Search, I did not find any.
Many thanks for any information you can provide!

Many thanks, I was not aware of this. But even Valchiusa is not in the "Registri dello stato civile di Torino (Provincia), 1744-1813"... Should I send them an email?

I contacted the municipality of Valchiusa.
They have no "civil" civil records prior to 1860
while the ecclesiastical registers are currently available and accessible from the historical archive of the diocese of Ivrea.
I attach the JPG with all the data to contact him.

Thanks again, so I should just contact them and ask information for the person I'm looking for?

If you look, the documentation starts shortly after the year 1000.
Ivrea is one of the oldest dioceses in Piedmont
It is better if you find someone who helps you write your requests in Italian
