New to England 1700's
I traced my ancestry from the smith strikers on a 1851 census to an apprentice Blacksmith in Hackney Miiddlesex in 1729. His name is William Davies and his father's name is John Davies with the occupation of husbandman. Any recommendation on the next step. Most of the trail travel though 6 counties in Wales.

John Price Davies Born in born 1771 Hay, Breconshire, Wales. Possible apprentice records from 1786 and 1787 as a Black Smith. 1841 census as BlackSmith born out of county in Merionethshire, Wales. Wife born in County. He is born around 1771 in the 1841 census. Lodger in 1851 census , Black Smith, widower, born in Hey, Breconshire around 1771. Death certificate 1861 at 89 years old in Breconshire. His son and Grand son are Smith Strikers in the 1851 census. He is mentioned as a Smith in his sons 2nd Marriage in 1847. I am not confident on the apprentice records. One has a David Davies as master and the other Even Evens. As of currently I have records for the father of John Price Davies as John Davies in Hay, Breconshire living to about 83 years of age.

@Graham Buckell @PABulfinchThanks. I do have this record on family search. I have his death record as well 1860. The apprentice record is also on findmypast. The location is Llangewyn, Denbighshire. The 1851 census John Davies born about 1771 in Haybreconshire as a Black Smith widower and lodger. The 1841 census his wife Elizabeth born in county of Merionethshire and he is born out of county. The Residence is Tyn Y Wern and District is Conwen 21 miles away from Llangewyn, Denbighsire. I was only able to find one John Davies as a Black Smith in the north Pigot's Directory 1829 but it is about 70 miles north of Llandrillo. John Price Davies and Grandson were smith strikers in the 1851 census. John was a smith on the certificate of the second marriage of his son David in 1847. David is born in Aberporth in 1801. Was able to find a marriage on a John Davies and Elizabeth Griffith 6 miles south of Aberporth. Search the non conformist churches in the Area and found a record in a book reference to the national Wales library. Contacted the national Library and they gave me the current call number. As I can tell the non conformist had no structure in Genuki until about 1820's. In the census in Llandrillo, Merionethshire in 1841 I found some Griffith's about 2 pages past Elizabeth and John Davies. I have not built out the family and verified it with my 700 big Y DNA or Autosomal. The Matches are clear on David Davies and his descendants in Wales and America. I have not yet researched tithe records. I promised to keep the forum updated on a brick wall that has been in my family since 1915. The sources are here MY48-XMJ. The list of questionable sources are in my source box on family search and shoe box on ancestry. After going through 350 Apprenticeship records on find my past I was able to come to these conclusions. What do you think?

@Graham Buckell I have found that the 10 common names and patronymic names are a very big problem to tackle in Wales. I have contacted the top YouTuber for wales for the Cardiganshire area of Davies. I have spent about 2+ years on this project. In the last Two months I broke the 1800's brick wall. I just am trying to change my research strategy and my network of helpers. My helpers verify if my sourcing makes since and is plausible. I had problems getting on zoom today with the specialist in Salt Lake City.

@Graham Buckell The record you found on Ancestry is fully indexed on Findmypast. I was able to trace is back to William Davies Christian in 1720 son of William. I assumed that the Smithing trade was in the Family and searched the work tab in find my past. The apprentice records are from 1710-1810. I thought the John Davies Apprentice record from Master Blacksmith Even Evens in 1787 made more since. John Davies apprentice record of 1786 from David Davies lead to a Thomas Davies Blacksmith about 1710. The coverage of travel for John Price Davies is North Wales, South West Wales and South East Wales. 1 out of 1000 people will be a black smith. A smith Striker is an apprentice smith. So birth place, age, occupation and name was used to source these records. I had to look at the originals of the 1841 census of John Davies because the occupation was not indexed. I do not post to discourage, but a support network is helpful when going into Wales.

It sounds like you have been trying very hard. As already commented, dealing with Davis/Davies in Wales makes life very uncertain. Pursuing your DNA results could be very worthwhile. This allowed me to break two brick walls of 35 odd years standing.

@Graham Buckell I am currently using principles from AI prompt engineering with about 4 genealogy sites. I just do not know how it will effect the results.
