Seeking information on Maria Prudlmann Johann Jacob Wagner

I've been researching (Johann) Jacob Wagner who was born on 10 Mar 1821 in Kurzell, Ortenaukreis, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, to Johann Wagner and Magdalene Schwarzel. He came to the US (date undetermined, probably mid 1850s), and lived for a time in Hollowayville, Bureau County in Illinois before moving to Peru, LaSalle County, Illinois. He died there on 12 May 1887.

In particular, I've having difficulties determining the name of Jacob's spouse, her DOB and when they married. I've seen her name as Maria Prudlmann, Mary Creidemann and her first name sometimes as Cressence or Christina. I believe she was born on 3 Mar 1827 in Bavaria and died in Peru, on 3 Sep 1899. According to 1860 US Census record, their first child, Caroline, was born in Germany in 1854. Their second child, Mary, was born in 1856. In addition, they had at least 4 other children, Jacob (b. 1859), Christina (b. 1861), Georg (1864) and Pauline (b. 1872). It appears that by the time the mother Mary died in 1899, the other children were deceased except for Pauline and Caroline (according to Mary's probate record).

Any guidance would be appreciated. It's been a puzzle to me as to what was Mary's given surname.

Hi,

There is a Crecencia Beideman/Kreidemann/Scheidemann (different transcriptions in familysearch and ancestry) immigrating with her daughter Caroline from Bavaria on June 18th, 1864. This is the year that Caroline says she immigrated according to the 1910 census.

There is a newspaper notice in the "Bayerische Zeitung" in March 1864, announcing her intention to emigrate together with her illegitimate daughter Anna Caroline, aged 8 years and 5 months.

This "Cresentia Kreiderman" war born in Vaterstetten near Munich on March 1st, 1827 to Conrad Kreiderman and Sibyla Wagner.

Since there are quite a few parallels to your ancestor, I think it it worth while looking into.
Maybe Johann Jacob Wagner married twice and his first wife died around the time that Cresentia arrived. Or maybe Cresentia emigrated after the birth of her daughter Caroline and later went back to Bavaria to take her to the US.

I have not checked other places for the church books of Ottendichl, St. Martin.
