Find William Charles Lieb, died 12 October 1957 in Oklahoma. I do not know the names of his parents.
I am writing for suggestions to find the parents and birthplace of William Charles Lieb. The following are places I have found William Lieb. I believe is the one I am looking for because of his wife's name and/or the names of the children which line up with the information I have. The family story is William Lieb married Lillian Duston. They ended up with four children. During the years of the Depression they got divorced. Lillian and her children moved to California. The family do not know much about William. Any advice for where to search would be greatly appreciated.
1920 Oklahoma Census shows him as Bill Lieb in Ardmore, Carter, Oklahoma, birthplace Texas. This shows both his mother and father were born in Germany. The census page shows a neighboring family to be the parents of his wife. On this census his wife is Lillian Lieb.
1930 Oklahoma Census shows him as W C Lieb in Anadarko, Caddo, Oklahoma, birthplace Pennsylvania. This shows both his mother and father were born in France. On this record his wife is shown as Lylin Lieb.
I found an online list at OK2Explore which shows his date of death as 12 October 1957. I do not have an official death certificate from Oklahoma.
I have a birth certificate for a son, William Lieb, Jr. On the birth certificate William Lieb, the father, shows his birthplace as France.

ok...Found an interesting newspaper article on William C Leib Jr. who was married to Elsie. Muskogee Daily Phoenix and Times-Democrat, 1 Dec 1960, pg 10, Lieb Testifies Father Gave Him Money While on Old Age Rolls
Basis of article is that Jr & wife Elsie are on trial for IRS fraud. They claim his father gave them money (upwards of $70,000 in cash) and that monetary gifts aren't taxable income. In the process of this there are several details about his father.
at first they say 'the elder Lieb, an immigrant from Germany, died at McAlester in 1957, after a long illness at his son's home there.'
Later the article states:
that his father had owned coal mines in Pennsylvania and oil properties in Kentucky.
Lieb said his father was born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and had 12 children by his first wife and Lieb and his two sisters by a second marriage.
He said Lieb moved to Ardmore in the 1920s, and then to Tulsa, to Cumberland, Maryland, to Claremore, to Watonga, to Anadaarko, Moore, Davis, Wewoka, Sulpher, Ardmore, Sulphur and other places. Lieb, junior, moved with him, and at Wewoka, when 12 or 13 years old, helped his father with pest extermination work.
'What did your father do in his wanderings?" Fender asked.
"Paint contracting and various jobs--tree service work" Lieb replied.
Lieb added his father also carried on insect extermination. he was not a "yard man" or cared for "small flowers" but was a sort of general utility man, Lieb said.
Lieb said his father built a brewery at Salt Fork, Pennsylvania; that is, he told his son he built the brewery. He said he never had seen the coals mines, the brewery, or the oil interests he said his father had told him he had in kentucky.
Lieb said he and his wife went to California in 1942 to join a cousin in operating a dairy and earned about $70 a week while there.
He said Tuesday he and his wife returned to Oklahoma and to McAlester in 1945 at his father's request to enter the insect and pest control business and that the and his wife started on so small a scale there that his wife boiled rat bait on her kitchen stove.
So, I went looking. Can't find a Salt Fork in Pennsylvania, but there is a Salt Fort Park in Ohio.
There is a William Charles Lieb in Iowa that has a dozen kids, married to a Helen Holder. But according to references, he lived 1856-1936. See ID L4HX-MWM. I can't find anything else on him at the moment, but maybe these pieces of information will help. I can share the article with you if you private message me your email address.
Wonder if you can get the whole case from the court records?

I just caught the final suggestion you made--Do you know the best way to try access the court records? And as far as the trial for IRS fraud, that fits with what I know about the family as well. 😉

Not sure on the court records. I was just looking into that as several articles mention that they are the first trial of its kind since that type of trial (or location of court?) had changed. One article says "a federal court jury" found them guilty. Ok...here you go. U.S. District Judge Ross Rizley was the judge for their trial. So let's see if we can find the U.S. District court in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Hmm... it looks like it is the Oklahoma Eastern District that covers Muskogee. Go to Case Info. Looks like they have an online system that you can purchase the records through digitally.
