What do you think of this list order in the 1870 census
Hello, I'm new here and already asking questions! Someone has just added Stilla Harrison to the family of Simmons Harrison in family search. Of course you don't get a relationship with 1870, but what do you think of the listed order. Seems strange to me. The W next to her name looks like the other W, so I don't think it's an M. I would say she is not part of the family but is a "servant". What do you think? https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-67KQ-BRL?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AMF36-CX7&action=view

Stilla Giles GPHH-5KC. Sorry I thought we used to be able to add screen shots but could find it. So I tried a link. didn't work. And I mixed up my families. It should be Giles.

In the census record, the person above Stilla- Minnie- is listed as a "Domestic Svt." Stilla has a ditto, meaning she is also a domestic servant. The 'W' next to Stilla's name refers to her race. You can see what the columns refer to at the top of the census page.
Have you looked at the 1860 and 1880 censuses to see if Stilla is listed with the family? This could give you other clues to her identity.

1880 Both Maria's and Nancy are boarders in a house. No one else listed. 1860 there is no one else listed just Maria, her husband Simmons and their daughter Maria. All the men died from about 1858-1870
