What is this occupation 'Bittel'?

Or for 'Gittels' or 'Rittels'? Any suggestions? Thanks!

:The 17 May Diebolt Stoll the tailor and Anna Barbara his legitimate wife had a young daughter baptized, and known as Anna.

:Godparents: Jacob Ottman, legitimate Son of Honorable Georg Ottman, Mayor or deputy? Here. Maria, legitimate wife of Diebolt Feuch, Citizen and ?? at Brumatch, and maiden Anna, legitimate daughter of Martin Stoll, Citizen and court member here. So testified.

I wonder if this fits. I looked up Bittel in my Middle-High German dictionary, and found the word Bitel, which means "der eine Bitte vorbringt, Freier, Freiwerber." And Freiwerber translates to matchmaker.

It may also be a dialectal form of Büttel, bailiff.
