Too complex

It was too complex and confusing, especially trying to get back and find who I was looking for in the first place. I, too, hope you build in an option.

Thank you for your feedback. You do have the option of using the Old Portrait view until the end of August when it will be discontinued. It was running on old technology and can no longer be updated. It has to be replaced.
You can also use the Landscape, Fan Chart, Decendancy or First Ancestor Views if you prefer not to use the new Beta Portrait View.

Thank you for your feedback. I have sent your request for an easier way to return to the person you were viewing in the tree to the engineers.
We do not have a timeframe of when they will be able to review your request but I will report back to you when I have an update.

The new format is too confusing. Please give everyone the option of using the old one after August.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand your request but the old Portrait Pedigree View is running on old technology and cannot be updated. It had to be replaced. The other pedigree views will remain.

I find the new form to hard to include facts and to navigate. Don't know how to add birth, AKAs, bio, etc. Much prefer old form which is clearer to me. New one is confusing.

I agree with this. FamilySearch needs to move the old format over to the new system. The new format is trying to do too much. I suppose it's fine if you're working with a three-screen setup like my husband has at work.
For me and my laptop, it DOES NOT FIT. I can't see multiple generations on one screen without making it too small to read. And if you can't see multiple generations at once, what's the point????
I've been using FamilySearch for over 20 years. Why are you trying to make it so ordinary people with one laptop have trouble using it?1 -
@RoxanneKing1 Thank you for your feedback. I use a laptop and I could see multiple generations at one time. If you can provide a screenshot(s) of the difference you are experiencing between the old and new Portrait View it would help our engineers understand what you are seeing.
To create the screenshot(s), go to How to Upload Images and follow the directions. We understand this takes extra time and appreciate your help in making the new Portrait View better.

Returning to the current tree expansion and position are being worked on by the engineers so that when the page is refreshed it will return to the same place.
We appreciate your patience while these Items are being worked on. Please watch the Know Issues and Requests and Usability Issues under the Announcements for updates.

I agree also that it is too complex and 'messy'. All the little arrows and how they expand doesn't give a great view of the tree. Prefer the old view.

@Corinne Fitzpatrick thank you for your feedback. There are some enhancements still being worked on.
Please watch the Known Issues and the Requests and Usability Issues under the Announcements for updates.

I agree the new view is confusing and I very much prefer the old pedigree chart. I think the new view will cause a new decrease in people using family search, because it is confusing.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that it can be confusing at first but hope that you will give it a try. If you still find it too confusing, there are four other choices for pedigree views by clicking on the down arrow next to Portrait on the toolbar.
