Jan Gudert - Birth Parish ID
Hello,
I'm looking at the marriage record of Jan Gudert and Antonina Tatarowicz (Korczew, 1815). I am unable to make sense of the parish from which Jan's birth record was extracted. Any insight would be great.
Best regards

Hi,
I wonder whether it could possibly be a misspelling of the town "Türkwitz". This is the German name for the town called Turkowy. Here is a link to the church books. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/185537?availability=Family%20History%20Library
Kind regards

Thank you @hehesani63 !
Sorry for missing your post earlier.
That interpretation seems reasonable; and that does look like an umlaut to me.
I was expecting the parish to be located close to Korczew/Łódź, since the groom was able to obtain copies of his birth record and present them to the Korczew priest. At 100km, Türkwitz seems possible.
Thank you again!
