French military records - Crimean War and Franco-Prussian War
Hello All,
I have an english ancestor's french-born husband who died in the Franco-Prussian Ward in 1871. This has been confirmed by a letter to his wife (I have a copy of the letter).
I have only been able to obtain his 1866 (Paris) marriage record online, which states his 1822 birth date and place. Can't find any official birth or death records for the husband. Would it be that they have just not been indexed or digitised, or possibly destroyed?
Does the French government have a military website with enlistment/attestation papers, or death records for serviceman in the Crimean and Franco-Prussian wars?
Is anyone able to help me with where to access enlistment or attestation papers, list of servicemen and deaths for the Crimean and Franco-Prussian Wars?
Also where might I access any French census records for the Correze and Paris areas?
I don't have much experience with French records and I've been searching but not had any luck, as yet. Any help directing me would be most appreciated.
Liz 😊

Thank you for your reply.
All I know about Pierre is from his marriage registration and a Letter sent to wife Elizabeth informing her of the death of her husband Pierre.
There is no mention of his family in the marriage registration. I've been in touch with a descendant of Pierre's son Louis. According to Louis, Pierre had no living family at the time of the marriage.

i have read again the marriage registration of Pierre Peytourie and Elisabeth Wright, it is notice that they has got a girl before they got married she's born on august 16th of 1865 in Paris 9ème but the birth registration was made on august 18th.
her name was Elise PEYTORèS.
i don't know why there is a mistake in the name but because of the accent of people from correze, it seemed like PEYTOURIE
so with these link
you could find birth of Elise n#1445 page 31/36have a good day
