Must use two different browsers to work with the CET
If I want to have a copy of the CET and the FamilySearch Family Tree open at the same time, I have to use two separate browsers, in my case, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. If I try to open both family trees in the same browser, they automatically go to the same family tree. This is probably going to be an issue with less experienced users.

Not that this solves your problem, but what I believe you are seeing is a cookie issue.
The website keeps track of the place you were so that we can get you back there quickly in a number of user scenarios. It usually is a very helpful feature for users that most enjoy but never think about how it's done. This location is stored by the browser, not by the open window. It means that two windows in a single browser showing different places on the website can behave a little erratically jumping you to whichever location updated the cookie last when you reload a page. This is a common issue with most websites.
The dual browser solution you came up with is likely the best. I don't think storing location by open window is possible and my experience is that trying to resolve these location issues across multiple open windows within a single browser is like playing whack-a-mole. Some of what you are trying to achieve in moving data between Family Tree and your CET will be made easier when we begin matching the two of them and allowing you to align a family from your tree with the corresponding family in Family Tree.

Thank you very much for your input and testing to help develop this new product. Please watch the announcements for future enhancements and supported features. As you know, the engineers are still working on the development of this product and have set priorities for rolling out those enhancements.
At this time, please use 2 different browsers to open a CET and a Family Tree.
Again, thank you for your valuable assistance with this product.
