Finding Records on my family in Korea
Hi there, my name is Sebastian. I was originally born in Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea. I do not know my parents, but I am very curious and eager to learn about my family. I do have some information on my parents and a bit of my grandparents.
Background information on me
My name in Korean is Ha Pu-leum, alternatively written as Pureum. My name is 河푸름 in Hanja. I probably received the surname from my mother, as i'm illegitimate. My mother was probably a member of the Jinyang (Jinju) Ha Clan, all I know is the surname is 河, Ha. I was born out of wedlock in Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-do, my mother had already left at the time though.
Parents and Grandparent's Background
My father was born around 1965 - 1964 at an unknown location, broadly Korea. He was born to a Construction Worker (father) and a Homemaker (mother), his religion was Buddhist. He was a college graduate and was an office worker in 2011, it is possible his job has changed.
My mother wasborn about 1975 - 1976 in Gyeongsangbuk-do. She was raised in Pohang-si to a Retired father and a Homeworking mother. It is possible her parents moved to the province from another province. She also was Buddhist and graduated college. She was an architectural drafter, it is also possible she has another job, she quit her job while I was conceived.
If any more information is required, please ask me.
매우 감사합니다!

Do you have any idea of the first and last names of your parents or grandparents? Their birth places? Death dates and/or places of death? This would be most helpful in the search. Have you done a DNA test?

@PABulfinch Yes I have done a DNA Test but no luck in finding them. I couldn't find their names anywhere, only on my background records from the agency, but they sealed the names with whiteout. My birth certificate also has just "-" for my parents. My father was broadly born in Korea, and my mother was born in Gyeongsangbuk-do, she was in Pohang for her childhood. I think they're still alive though.
I forgot to add my father is eldest of 2 boys and 2 girls and my mother is youngest of 3 girls.

@PABulfinch I have an update on my parents
after a bit of of searching, I had found the document about my parents. My father's surname was Jeon (unknown Hanja character though) and my mother's surname was Ha like I thought it was. I also found my father was eldest if 1 boy and 2 girls, not 2 boys.

You need to find out the specific clan you are a part of and try to find the associated Jokbo. If you can read and write hangul very well then Id suggest to make a trip to Daegu and go through some public records. I cant find access to them here from the US online but when I was in Korea I had a Korean Sim card for my phone and was able to look up by name and birthdate in a quick google search to find the relatives I was looking for. Good luck I hope that helps.
