How do I prove Monfort as the maiden name of Elizabeth Ellison
Elizabeth Ellison is my 3rd great grandmother. I have sources and DNA evidence to support this. In 1850 census she lived in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and her birthplace was listed as New Jersey. She died in 1860 in Mason County, Illinois. Her maiden name was added to FamilySearch as Monfort with her parents listed. However, there is no source. I cannot confirm. Does anyone have ideas how I can prove her maiden name?

- About when was she born? And what was her religion? Both New Jersey and Pennsylvania are relatively good states for finding early church records for baptisms and marriages.
- Have you found the vital records for her children? One of them might list the mother's maiden name.
- Have you looked for other Monfort and Ellison families and their records near where she lived? Collateral research is often the best way to find a missing link.
- Have you tried contacting the contributor who added the maiden name? He or she may have a source not added to the tree profile.
If you want to share the PID (profile identifier) for Elizabeth Ellison, we might come up with more suggestions.
Best of luck with the search!

What was her husband's name? In 1850, did she have any kids? If so, what were their names? Any info on where they were born?
