Marriage Record Help, Please
There is an extensive note on the #14, page 8, marriage record of Giovanni Petruzzelli and Lucia De Santis, Casteluccio Valmaggiore, Foggia. Would someone kindly transcribe (or translate) it for me to see is there is any mention of the groom being in America? Giovanni was already in America (immigrated 1907)...and Lucia arrived in America May 27, 1914. I wonder if this note is an explanation. Were "proxy" marriages done in Italy? The link and a digital image of the note is provided. Thank you!

Note that this is not a marriage record, but instead of a marriage banns (publication).
The long text at the bottom is all standard, except indeed, it mentions that there was a power of attorney done on 6 Aug 1913 by notary Giovanni B. Bonello, and as we can see in the actual body of the record, Nicola Giannetta was representing the groom here.
You would have to see the actual marriage record to see if the groom was present for that. I do believe marriages by proxy were allowed in exigent circumstances, but I'm not 100% certain of that.
In any case, you should note that for the period 1866-1929 in Italy, civil marriages and church marriages were two completely separate things. What we're studying here are civil records, so we only see the civil marriage. Therefore, even if you do find the civil marriage was done by proxy, it's very possible that the church marriage was done later, upon arrival in America.

Thank you, Joseph, for your response! I messaged you too. I greatly appreciate your help with this - and the clarification on which document I was looking at.
