National Library of Greece - Newspapers Digital Library
Hi everyone
Newspapers' search is a great way to find your ancestors' history. Their columns host a great variety of articles: Politics, financial news, ephemera, stories, obituaries, wedding announcements, baptisms.
The National Library of Greece (ΕΒΕ) has created many years ago a searchable webpage with a few of its digitized newspapers, such as:
- AKROPOLIS (1883-1884) - Athens
- ELEUTHERIA (1944-1967) - Athens
- EMPROS (1896-1969) - Athens
- MAKEDONIA (1911-1981) - Thessaloniki
- RIZOSPASTIS (1917-1983) - Athens
- SKRIP (1893-1963) - Athens
- TACHYDROMOS (1958-1977) - Alexandria, Egypt
This archive is a true treasure for genealogy researchers. The Athenian newspapers, are quite useful for people originated from Southern Greece, while "Makedonia" newspaper covers Northern Greece. In "Tachydromos", Aegyptiot Greeks can trace their ancestors, even if it is quite contemporary.
Here is the link, unfortunately only in Greek:
