German immigrants, in the US, at a Catholic Church, founded by the French! Help please!
Can anyone ID the birth and/or baptismal dates for the "Witte" child written in....French!? (I included the whole page for context and comparison.)
I see a word that starts "qua......" but can't decipher the handwriting.
I thought this was German, then Latin, but now I'm told it's French. It was for German immigrants, but at a Catholic church founded by the French in St. Louis. The record is from 1849.

the 2 of april 1848, Maria Catherina, daughter of Henry Witte and of Agnès A...mann,
the birth was on 29th (not written but I suppose it was 29th of march 1848)
the godmother was Catherina Sorgerl

Well....this leaves me with more questions. I thought this record was from 1849, not 1848. And I thought the birthdate was the 28th, not the 29th!
Thank you for your help! French is not in my repertoire!
