Gaining access to Ireland, Civil Registration Birth Index, 1864-1958
I have come to a dead stop in finding my grandfather's birth certificate. I've gone to all the Irish genealogy sites and have even requested his births certificate from Northern Ireland. They cannot find him on the dates in his passport which is the date he used all his life and is on his gravestone. NI send me a BC from the prior year, same parent names, which seems to line up with the 1901 and 1911 census. However, I have found a search result in Ancestry for a Francis Hughes in the Civil Registration Birth Index, 1864-1958 FHL number 101068, pg 39 with the birth date he used all his life. Unfortunately the index has a microfilm symbol. I've gone to a FS affiliate and a Center. Neither have access. Is there a service that can get this record from the Microfilm in SLC? I do not understand the change in BD, if there is indeed one at all. It's very confusing, but I cannot look at any other records and try to figure it out if they are only on microfilm and I'm in NY. Any suggestions - other than flying out to Utah?

Those records are no longer available on FamilySearch to non-Church members. They are, however, available free to all on the Irish government site, irishgenealogy.ie.
There is a notice on the FS catalog page directing researchers to the Irish government site. See: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/2659409

The record for Francis Hughes on Page 39 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1901/01946/1751904.pdf You may need to solve a Captcha to view the image if you have not used the site before, but it's free, does not keep your information, and does not even require a password.

Hi. Found this today. Dont know if it's any use. It's the parents marriage and it seemed slightly out from the"Newry" search area but the Felix sealed for me. Naming patterns and all that.

This is A-mazing!! What a great find. Thank you so much. I'm sure it's them. And yes, the Felix in the family line is from Mary Donnelly and that was one of my first clues that she was his wife. Naming conventions as you mentioned!!!. did you find this certificate on family search??

I would reckon that you could take this line further back by looking for felix and his marriage. The dates are good. Thats where I would go next. Glad to be of help.
