Franciszek Kowalewski, death, 1853, Korczew - Occupation
Hello,
I’m trying to decipher the occupation of Franciszek Kowalewski listed in the death record linked below. I do not need the full translation. Does it say włóczęga (a drifter)?
I know that in 1840 Franciszek was an organist in Chojne (following in his father’s footsteps). His death record does not mention this though. However, it does acknowledge his father’s career as an organist.
Best regards,

You are correct, włóczęga translates as a drifter or tramp, but it is unusual to read that he lived in Tymienice, and that he left there his widowed wife, Malgorzata Kowalewska. It could indicate that he was a resident of Tymienice where he lived with his wife.
Marriage record indexed in Geneteka of Franciszek Kowalowski. There are no indexed birth records of his children.
