My ancestors occupation in his children's christening record is a mailor. What is that?

Are you sure this is not meant to read "Nailor". I have found this occupation during searches and discovered it simply means a maker of nails. There is an occupation of Mailer, but this seems unlikely as it is connected with the handling of newspapers, so would not seem too likely to be found in the 1700s.
