Hi everybody! Here's my brick wall. The earliest record I have for Magnus Hallman (born 1760 or 1763
I know from my pedigree chart that I'm 62.5% Swedish, but ancestry DNA has me 41% Swedish and 21% Norwegian. I'm sure there's some overlap among all Scandinavian countries, but I can't help but wonder if it was Magnus who came to Sweden from Norway. Could this be a place in Norway? Anybody have any ideas? (No birth records for him in Sweden, BTW.) https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v54743?image=170

Here are some of the places I found that could be it:
Catrinas farm, Long parish, Skaraborg, Sweden (I did actually search this one for the birth years 1760-1764 and didn't find anything super promising)
Katrinapladsen, Krødsherred parish, Buskerud, Norway
Katrinaborg, Tanum parish, Jarlsberg, Norway
Katralen, Askim parish, Smaalenenes, Norway
Katronskäret, Hitis parish, Åbo, Finland
When it comes to actual matches with the record, the one in Finland looks the most promising to me than any of the Norway matches. I also didn't include any in Denmark because Denmark has over 40 places that start with the letters Katr- or Catr-
Is this place name written on any other documents?

I also found this household record for Magnus (he also seems to go by the surname Värn) and it cites Gåsborn's congregation in Värmland. I would search there first for any record of Magnus.

Looking through Gåsborn parish for the birth range 1760-1763 there are the following options:
- Magnus b. 6 Oct 1760 to Oluf Jönsson and Lisken Larsdotter
- Magnus b. 8 Nov 1761 to Erik Månsson and Brita Jönsdotter
- Magnus b. 10 Dec 1761 to Måns Jönsson and Maria Andersdotter
- Magnus b. 6 Jan 1762 to Erik Jansson and Margritta Mattsdotter
- Magnus b. 22 Jan 1762 to Erik Månsson and Ingrid Börjesdotter
There were no children with the name Magnus born in 1763.
I would follow each of these and see if you can connect any of them into your timeline for Magnus Hallman Wärn.
Let me know how it goes! (and if you have any questions)

Yeah I've looked at the Gåsborn birth records many times. I've followed him completely after he left Fristaden in Eskilstuna but can't find him before that. I'm going to check the household records in Long Parish in Skaraborg. I've never looked at any Norwegian records but I'll see what I can figure out. Thank you so much!!

I found a probate for him if he is the Magnus Hallman 2ZV5-XSB
who was married to Anna Pehrsdotter. It is here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0104137_00364#?c=&m=&s=&cv=363&xywh=2684%2C244%2C3660%2C1923 .
Since he was a smith, you might be interested in this Family Search Wiki article: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Smedskivan .

someone just posted this in the Swedish American Genealogy Group on Facebook, if you go join that group you may be able to connect with them and see if you are actually working on the same lines. I know it's kind of a long shot, but it's worth a shot!
