Italian Calvary Records
Hello-
I would appreciate help with finding my great-grandfather's military records. I have a photo of him in his Italian Calvary uniform on a horse. I believe it was taken around 1894 in Napoli. I will be traveling to Italy in October, so I could go in person, but I don't know where to go. It would be great if there was some place on-line to search, but the websites I have gone to do not include his name.
I would appreciate someone pointing me in a direction (or two!).
Thanks, Lynn

Most Italian military records are not available online. To get his military records, you need to know where he was born and write to the state archive for that province. You would ask for his ruolo matricolare or foglio matricolare. Provide your ancestor's name, birth date, comune of birth, and names of parents.
