Need help locating probate record Jacob Gray 20 May 1776 (d-22 April 1776) Fairfield, CT
I recorded in my research log the Probate #2511 in Fairfield, CT. Unfortunately I didn't download the film #, or probate record details, dated 16 July 1776.
I located it in a probate index (FHL 7626838, info above). I've looked through numerous films to no avail. :-(
It mentioned my ancestor Seth Gray, Jacob's grandson, who left the Rev War to attend to his grandfather's probate matters.
Jacob's executors were Seth Gray and Gershom Thorp. I always wondered why Seth was listed as a deserter.
Please help.
Thanks,
CKampenhout

@clkampenhout Search the FamilySearch Catalog for Connecticut (NOT Connecticut, Fairfield) and scroll down to Probate:
Choose "Probate files collection early to 1880:
These probate packets are arranged in alphabetical order by district. Go to page 4 for Fairfield district and open DGS Film#7628163:
Then it's just a matter of clicking on cover pages for each packet until you find Jacob Gray. (If you want to save some time, try image #302.) 🙂
