Help with my ancestor's surname
Hi,
Maria Oliveri and Domenico Sergi were my 3x great grandparents. They were from Fiumara. I am having trouble with Maria's mother's last name. I am attaching Maria's death record which has her father as Domenico and her mother, Sabina, listed. I am also attaching Sabina's death record. I thought it might be Sanfori? but I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated.

Can you find Domenico Olivieri's death record? It might show Sabina as his widow if he didn't remarry. Then, the writing might be more legible on that document.

No, she was a widow when she died and I’ve been thru Fiumara’s records prior to that and I couldn’t find him. Plus some of the early records are not in great shape.
After scrutinizing these records, I believe her surname was Scarfuni. I am comparing the handwriting for the person recording the entries. I believe the first two letters were Sc. I am comparing to the S in Domenico Sergi. (Her son in law)

Hmm, her death record says she's his wife, not widow, and doesn't say he's deceased. I would search for his death record in later years if I were you.

Oh, I thought it identified her as a widow under profession. I’ve been through these records so many times and never found him, but I’ll look again. Thanks.
