Norway Baptism Translation - 1776
I'm looking for a birth of Povel with father Knud Trondsen and Marit Paulsdatter.
- Can anyone read the last name of the father and mother on this record?
- I am not an expert at Moveable Feast Dates. What is Domin Sexag in 1776 for their baptism? Are they talking about 11 February 1776?
Page 45 (right page), left column, record 4 (first one on the top).
Thanks for your help!

Here is the transcribed version of the data: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/255/pd00000014531055
It was done by Slekt og Data Sunndal so is very accurate. It does show what I thought it did before I checked it.
Knud is not listed with a patronymic, something that is fairly common that far back. He is listed as Soldat Kund Skrædder, that is Soldier Kund Skrædder. It was pretty common for soldier to have non-patronymic last names. These were often assigned to them when joining the army. Sometimes based on a physical characteristic, personality, or some other trait. Skrædder means tailor so he might have been a tailor in civil life or maybe he was just good at repairing uniforms.
In any event, there is no hint in this record who Knud's father might be. Povel is listed as illegitimate so there won't be a marriage record to help. If Marith Povelsdatter later married a Knud Trondsson, you cannot assume that the two Knuds are the same person. You would have to find some evidence for that.
Povel and Paul are the same name. You will find them used interchangeably in records, along with Pål and Paal. So this Marith Povelsdatter could be your Marit Paulsdatter.
Dominica Sexigesima 1776 is 11 Feb 1776. The handiest way to handle named Norwegian dates I have found is at https://dinslekt.no/ Click on the Kirkelige høytider tab, put in the year, then find the Sunday or Holy Day.
However, this looks encouraging: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/327/pv00000002892103 (original image at: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070914630012 )
Soldier Knud Throndsen, living at Muschier which is where Marith Povelsdatter was living when Povel was born was engaged to Marith Povelsdatter March 23, 1776, just over a month since Povel was born and they were married two years laster 19 July 1778. Just because of the nearness of the two events, the birth and the engagement, I'd be pretty confident that the two Soldier Knuds are the same man. Of course, if you had a record later on that Knud Throndsen (same name as Trondsen) was a tailor, that would be even more convincing.

@Gordon Collett, thanks for your answer, helping me understand he was a soldier and use Skrædder instead of a last name. Thanks for the website for Norwegian dates. It is still hard to read the dates on the records and I still ask once in a while for help to make sure I get the correct dates.
My records show Knud Throndsen married Marit Paulsdatters (Povelsdatter). I have been using a farm book to help me find the records on this family line. Thanks for the marriage record.
