Genealogy by Family Search RE: Maxwell & Hamilton
As part of the RootsTech, Family Search reports that Sir Winston Churchill is my 9th cousin 3x removed. We are connected via John Maxwell and his daughter Ellen Maxwell. After receiving comments from this group, I have sought but struggled to find Scottish birth records to connect one generation of Maxwell to the next. But, Family Tree must have found original documents to support the lineage they created for me.
Is it appropriate for me to build my family tree using the person ID numbers in their chart? Thank you, Kris

@KrisNelson1 I am not sure who in RootsTech sent out all of these "Are You Related To?" links, but there is some flaws. Winston Churchill has two profiles LC32-HZ6 and GV1Y-WX9. There have also been someone making changes to his profile as well recently. Personally, I wouldn't use those PIDs unless I was researching that particular line.
As for your Maxwell line, what information do you have on them? Any in that line with Scotland places of birth, marriage or death? If so, we can help you here or you can also go to Scotland's People, but it is a paid for site per document you want to purchase. You can opt to save the file on their page and look at it without paying for it.

Hello Sharon, Thank you for reply and letting me know that the Winston Churchill genealogical information may not be correct. However, thru Y DNA and the paper trail I’m pretty certain I am related to the Hamilton’s. See 1st image from Churchill information.
It appears that FamilySearch created duplicate male Maxwell IDs and has different spouses for some of the male IDs. I included two screenshots of the Maxwell tree that was magically attached to mine. John Archibald Maxwell 1780 is most likely my ancestor. Everyone else farther back in time-who knows.
I have used Scotland’s People and found marriage records but nothing else. So, it’s hard to say that this marriage had these offspring.
