Translation of Italian Birth Record
Clotilde Magnolia, GQY2-XQB, 3 March 1880 Ausonia, Frosinone, Lazio, Italy
My relatives are Raffaele Prumo and Maria Domenica Di Giorgio who are mentioned on the birth record of Clotilda Magnolia. I need a translation of the original record to understand if these are actually her parents or are they adopting her or giving her up?

This is indeed an abandoned infant, who looked to be about 20 days old, found in the "ruota dei trovatelli" of Ausonia. They invented a name Clotilde Magnolia for her. Raffaele Prumo, age 24, shoemaker, resident in Ausonia agreed to assume care for her, with the assistance of his wife Maria Domenica Di Giorgio.
Many couples would volunteer to care for an abandoned child for various reasons. However, legally, the child indeed has unknown parents, and will never have legal parents. Informally, she very well may have become an integral part of the Prumo family, but proper legal adoption was not commonly practiced in Italy. It's possible but unlikely that the child was a biological relative of some kind, which is why your ancestors agreed to host her, but this is just speculation. There is zero indication of the motives of your ancestors in caring for this child in this document.
