Translation and genealogical assistance
My great-grandmother Maria was born in Venice. I have found her birth certificate. I would love any assistance in translating it.
I am also very interested in information about her parents (Antonio Breda and Eleonora Dubrawska). Eleonora was born near Krakow, Poland. When she was 12, her mother and sister had died and she was shipped off to live (we believe) with a relative near the Dolomite Mountains. This is the only document I have that she existed. Antonio is from Conegliano and was in the military and a student. They were married in 1890. I have searched but did not find a marriage certificate in Venice.
Any other information on this document or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This document says that the father Antonio Breda is age 61, captain of military civil engineers, who lived in Conegliano. He reported the birth on 27 Aug 1891 at 10:30am. The baby was born at 1:30am on the 22nd at house #725 in the Dorsoduro district of Venezia. The mother is his wife Contessa Eleonora de Ias (or de Sas?) Dubrowska. No other information is provided about the parents.

I found other information about your ancestor Eleonora Dubrawska. She died in Belluno, even if she was resident in Venice, on the 3rd October 1911. There are also the names of her parents. You can find her death certificate in the Civil Registration of Venezia. Good luck with your search ;)

This is such great information. This is the first I have any knowledge of her connection to Belluno. I am wondering if she grew up there and wanted to return to die? Also, on the death certificate, there are a lot of witnesses but her children are not mentioned. Two words are stumping me if anyone can lend a hand translating?
The first is before (Polonia). Looks like Camiliec?
Also, the profession is listed as popsidente?

The two words are Camiliec (maybe an Italian transliteration of the original name); the profession is "Possidente". It was used with the same meaning of "Proprietario", and it was used for richer people who owned several properties (it literally means "Owner").
No, the children are not mentioned probably because she was far from home. But the husband is still alive at that time, and maybe on his death certificate there will be something.
Maybe in Belluno she had some properties, or she was there on some sort of trip (?).

I am now looking for Eleonora and Antonio’s marriage record. Venice has some massive files (thankfully!). In your experience, is the index (indice) accurate or should I scan every marriage record?

In my experience the indeces are pretty accurate, I suggest you starting from there. However, marriages can be tricky because they used to happen in the hometown of the bride (or simply where she used to live). At least this was the main custom in the south.
In your case, it might not be guaranteed that it happened in Venice.
You could also try tracking down all the other children they had, if any, and see if you find something.
