William Morrill and his son Hollis H Morrill. Sons of the Revolution Membership
I am a disabled veteran and seeking membership with the Sons of the Revolution. However, it has been denied without providing providence tying Hollis Morrill to his dad William Morrill. Hollis's birthplace is listed as Shelbyville Vt. About 1820. I cannot find that place in Vermont. Or a place to start.
My father was Walter R. Morrill; his dad was Charles H. Morrill whose dad was Hollis H. Morrill whose dad was William Morrill Sr. of Vermont. Whose Father was Maj Amos Morrill, Revolutionary Officer?
I am trying to connect William Morrill Sr. Son of Amos Born 12 Sept 1782. To his son Hollis Morrill (1820) of OHIO. Or vice versa. Need this information for providence for membership with the Sons of the Revolution; they will not accept just the family tree. I need proof that William Morrill Sr. had a son named Hollis Morrill or Hollis had a dad named William Morrill; Son of Maj. Amos Morrill. Can you help? If you have or know of the whereabouts of such information, please let me know: I can pay a fair price for this information.

Gen 5 to Gen 6: NOT PROVEN. Patriotic Service of Maj. Amos Morrill is proven by DAR RC 891209 through son Jeremiah and 873020 and 873019 through son Theophilus. But not through son William."

@LarryMorrill1 Thank you for your service to our country and I wish I had an easy answer for you! Birth records for Vermont were not required until much later than 1820. These are the records I looked for:
Marriage record for Hollis with names of parents. You probably know the record attached to Hollis H Morrill 9ZPJ-VGC does not give any clues to his parentage. I could not find a license or any other marriage record.
Obituary for Hollis. He died too early for a death certificate. He lived in Clyde, Sandusky, Ohio until 1866, then moved to southern Illinois and died there in 1869. His widow lived with her children until her death. I could not find any death information at all for him. Perhaps you know more about circumstances of his death.
Probate Records for William, his father. The last known residence of William is October, 1850 in Portage Township, Summit County, Ohio. I could not find him in any indexes for probate records in Summit County, nor a newspaper obituary or burial record. He may have died elsewhere.
Land deeds showing distribution of property from William to heirs. Again, I could not find him in indexes, but I only looked in Summit County.
Tax assessments showing William and Hollis together. Hollis was born in 1820 and not married until 1849. If he was living at home when he turned legal age he should appear on the tax assessment next to his father. I couldn't determine if tax records still exist for Summit county and if so where they are archived. They might be at the University of Akron Archives, but not accessible online.
Maybe someone else has ideas on other places to search. You might try looking for the above records in other places. I wish you well.

My suggestions: Look a little farther afield to neighboring states and also try the National Archives records, including pension files.
Why? Years ago I did some research at the National Archives in WA, D.C. for my Morrill cousins. Consequently, I was able to break through their brick wall. They were stuck on an ancestor living in New Hampshire. I discovered he and his father were actually from Waldo, ME (Albert A. Morrill b. 1833, and his father Jacob Sawyer Morrill, born 1802). Some NARA records are available online and some pension files, etc. can be purchased (on CD, paper copies, etc.)
