Can’t find Swedish birth or Household records
I, along with other distant cousins, cannot find the north record for Frede Christina Friberg (Freiberg, Fredenberg or Freborg). She was born on March 4, 1872 in Bralanda, Sweden. I believe her parents are Johan Freborg (born 1833 in Mölndal) and Christina Johannesdotter (born Nov 1 1833 in Tegelbruket, Nordkärr, Holms, Västra Götaland, Sverige). I can’t seem to find any siblings or any Swedish household records or birth records. If anyone could help and even point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it!!! Thanks again. Melody

Hello Melody, some remarks and findings:
- A location "Bralanda" seems not to exist; it can be Brålanda. The birth register for Brålanda has a Christina born on March 4, 1872 (https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/A0004365_00085), but her parents are Josef Johansson and Augusta Andersdotter.
- A birth record for a Kristina Johannesdotter born Nov 1, 1833 can be found in in the birth register of Holm, Västra Götaland (https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0044435_00107). It has the right location (Tegelbruket) and gives the parents as Johannes Ericksson and Britta Jönsdotter. The family is also found in the household records (https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0044417_00173). However, Kristina apparently died already June 25, 1834; her death record is here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0044435_00185 (right page, third from bottom). So this Kristina can't be the mother of Frede Christina Friberg.
- I couldn't find a birth record for a Johan Freborg born 1833 in Mölndal (then called Fässberg församling). There are of course several Johans, but none seems to fit. Generally, the surname Freborg seems to be extremly uncommon or non-existent in Sweden; there are no entries of this name in the usual data bases (e.g. ratsit.se). Friberg and Fredenberg are much more common.
What sources do you have for the people? Did any of them emigrate?

It could be the correct birth the 4. March 1872 as the father of "Christina" calls himself Josef Johansson Friberg at a later date.

Brålanda kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder, SE/GLA/13066/A I/24 (1886-1890):
The older brother "Lars Johan" is said to be "f..= i Amerika", but in 1887 he is married and back (bild 310/ sida 292).
August & Kristina has a date of moving 16/1 1886 or 1887 to Ör (must be the one in Älvsborgs län)
Anders emigrates to "Amerika" 24/1 1890!

August & Kristina Josefsson (using patronym) leaves Västra Gatan in Brålanda 16/1 1886 for Ör.

So they have to be found in Ör to see if they also leaves for the US. Sadly it doesn't say precisely where in Ör.

Cant' find her back in Brålunda.....

@Niels Just Rasmussen Good work!
So to recap:
The father of Christina is Josef Johansson (Friberg added later), not Johan
The mother of Christina is Augusta Andersdotter, not Christina Johannesdotter.
The family is found in the household examination record 1871-1875 here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0043280_00108
The forename "Frede" is not found in the original records, it may be a later addition.

Ulrich: I would say that it depends on where Melody's had her sources from, but so far it looks promising that it is the right Christina.
So if Melody can give links or write where she had her information from.....
I would assume that Christina at some point emigrated to the US (as two of her brothers did).
Melody: So what info (of immigration-date, where in US did she live, when married and with whom, names of children etc.) do you have?
This could be important to find her life story.

One more bit of information:
The (presumed) mother Augusta Andersdotter was born 18 Nov 1844 in Sundals-Ryr, Älvsborgs län, Dalsland. She died 13 Feb 1876 in Brålanda (and is therefore not listed in the later census and household records).
Information from "Sveriges Dödbok 8" (https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sveriges_d%C3%B6dbok).

Impossible to know right now if it is her, but could very well be.
Immigration to New York 28. December 1891 with ship S/S Thingvalla from Copenhagen (Denmark).
Nr. 75: Christine Josephsen [written in Danish convention ; in Swedish it would be Christina Josephsdotter/Josefsdotter].
19 years old [so born 1872]. Girl [so unmarried]. From Sweden. Destination: New York.

Sundals-Ryrs kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder, SE/GLA/13511/A I/18 (1886-1890):
Place: Näset.
Kristina Josephsdotter. Född: Brålanda 4/5 1872 [mistake, correct is 4/3 1872]
Came from Ör 28/3 1890. [Inflyttning folio 8]
Source (bild 235/sida 218) : https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0044338_00235#?c=&m=&s=&cv=234&xywh=162%2C2040%2C4265%2C2269
So she didn't go back to Brålunda in December 1889 (or just for a very short while, so she wasn't recorded there), but travelled from Ör to Sundals-Ryr in March 1890!
Sundals-Ryrs kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder, SE/GLA/13511/A I/19 (1891-1895):
PLace: Näset.
Kristina Josefsdotter. Född: 4/5 1872 i Brålanda [mistake 4/3].
LEAVES FOR AMERICA 27/11 1891 !!!! [utflyttning folio 35]
Source (bild 215/sida 211): https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0044339_00215#?c=&m=&s=&cv=214&xywh=332%2C480%2C7369%2C3920
So she leaves Sundals-Ryr 27. November. It fits perfectly with her travelling to Copenhagen in Denmark, then boarding the ship S/S Thingvalla and arriving in New York 28. December 1891!!
So now we have her 19 year old, unmarried, arriving alone in New York as a servant maid (which the US immigration record stated)....
