Esperia, Frosinone civil records
Family search has record for Roccaguglielma and San Pietro in Curulis until 1865, but oddly doesn't list Esperia which is what this area became in 1867. Anyone know where I can access those later records online? Thanks

The modern comune of Esperia was formed in 1867 from the merger of the towns of Roccagugliema, San Pietro in Curolis, and Monticelli.
The civil records of Esperia from 1866 onwards are not available publicly, online or otherwise. They do exist at the comune of Esperia stato civile office, so it remains technically possible to request birth/marriage/death certificates from them via official legal channels.
If you are lucky, birth records from before 1866 (on Antenati) sometimes provide details of the person's future marriage. It is therefore occasionally possible to bridge this gap even without access to the post-1866 records.
As for other sources that exist:
- Military records: The draft lists for men born 1868-1879 are held at Archivio di Stato di Caserta (consultable only in person). The service records for men born 1877-1914 are held at Archivio di Stato di Frosinone (an index is available online http://www.archiviodistatofrosinone.beniculturali.it/index.php?it/216/anni-ruoli-matricolari with which it is possible to request images of individual records). Finally, the draft list for men born 1923 is online: http://www.archiviodistatofrosinone.beniculturali.it/index.php?it/233/anno-1923. Military records are not much use for tracing a pedigree back, but they can substitute for birth records as they provide the date of birth and parents' names.
- Church records: Presumably these still exist in the custody of the 3 parishes of Esperia (Roccaguglielma, San Pietro in Curolis, and Monticelli). However, please note that church records in Italy are not considered public records! Any lookups or consultations are at the sole discretion of the parish and access is not guaranteed! Nonetheless, if the comune is unable to help you with post-1866 civil records, or if you are interested in pre-1809 research (before civil records), church records would be the only option.
