Help on a German Civil Registration Marriage entry for 1809 in French
This is a civil marriage registration from the area of Hürth, just south of Cologne (Coeln) from 1809. This is not a word for word translation but what I could get from the document. This area was under Napoleonic rule for a few years and although I can get online and do a French-English translation for the printed text, the hand written text and difficult handwriting are wearing me down. I have been working with records in German for this area and I know the villages of Fischenich, Lechenich, Zundorf, and Rondorf.
Any help you can give me would be soooo appreciated!!!
Here is what I think are the key elements of this document. There don't seem to be dates for the marriage bannes but I can't read the handwritten section below that except that the bannes seemed to be posted in the villages of Waldorf and Rondorf.
Marriage entry 14 for that year.
On 21 February 1809, Joseph Braun, age 24, by occupation a [occupation?] and a resident of [Zundorf[f]], governmental district of Coeln, appeared to give notice that he and Marie Sibilla Becker, age 28, of Fischenich wished to be married and had posted the required marriage bannes in Waldorf and Rondorf.
Johann Braun listed his parents as [Wilhelm?] Braun, a farmer, and Anna Wiertz of [Bremig], both deceased. Marie Sibilla Becker, listed her parents as Germain Becker, farmer, and Marie Schlömer his wife, both of Fischenich.
Witnesses to this registration were Jean Stammel, age 53, occupation farmer, resident of Fischenich and cousin of the bride,; Mattias Braun, age 47, by occupation laborer, residence [Wall baberg?]; Theodor Schlömer, age 58, farmer, resident of Fischenich, maternal uncle of the bride; Jean Nicolas Schmitz, age 43, profession [Padiatier?], residence of [Lechenich?], friend of the bride.
Recorded by Christian Schmitz (mayor) of Hürth.
