Searching for an immigrant ancestor
I have an ancestor (Giuseppe Salese / L5X9-H5S) who immigrated to Brazil from Italy around 1890-1900.
I would like to know exactly when he arrived in Brazil. He was born in the town of Aversa, Caserta, Campania on March 14, 1872. His parents are Domenico Salese and Giuseppa Andreozzi.
His mother had a second marriage with Francesco Paolo Lemma and three daughters: Raffaela, Antonia and Anna Lemma. I have a very deteriorated copy of a passport of this family with the date of 1893 and validity of 1 year. I imagine that this family immigrated that year. His sisters stated that they arrived in April 1893 on the ship Remo. There are no records of this ship for that year.
Giuseppe Salese had his first child with Maria Lucia Apollinara on April 16, 1897. Thus, his immigration preceded that date. I couldn't locate their wedding.
In Italy, is there any kind of record that can give me a better estimate of the year of immigration?
Can anyone take a look at the logs and see if I missed any important information?
Thanks
