Help Identifying Location in Russian Empire
Hello! I am trying to identify this location on an 1887 record of a birth that took place in 1856 in the former Russian Empire. (Sorry I do not have a better image--the original is not in my possession.) The family immigrated to the US and consistently identified their homeland as "Russian Poland" or "Polish Russia" so that should help narrow it down to somewhere in the Russian partition. I am trying to determine both the parish and registration town names as well as the birthplace. From what I can make out with my limited handwritten Cyrillic reading ability, the parish and the registration town is something like Bartniki (perhaps the town in Belarus?) and the birthplace is Lepolatas (which makes me think of Leopolis aka Lviv in Ukraine, but that would not match with the hometown being in the Russian partition of Poland). Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
