Le Havre, France
I am seeking for a reliable local researcher living in Le Havre, France. Two of my ancestors were born in Le Havre about 1826. Last name is Bouttier (father's name is Jean Baptiste Bouttier / mother Juana Maria Ponce Santiago). I have their marriage record but need birth record of their two sons Dr. Leopoldo Jose Bouttier and his brother Carlos "Charles" Bouttier. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Le Havre is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department, and those records are online; see Department Archives of Seine-Maritime for the records. On the left, under Commune, type in Le Havre, and then scroll down and type in the dates of interest and click on the blue "Rechercher" button. Then scroll down and click on a collection of interest (look at the record type; Naissances means births). Note that there are usually handwritten indexes (split up by birth, marriage, and death) at the end of each year. "Tables décennales" (decennial/ten-year tables) are also very helpful tools, as they are ten-year handwritten indexes of the other records.
Based on the tree I found for this family on FamilySearch, the two ancestors you are referencing are likely:
- Leopoldo José Bouttier Ponce, born 1826 in Le Havre
- Carlos Bouttier, born about 1831 in Le Havre
I don't see either child in the birth index, although the following surnames similar to Bouttier are listed: Bottiere, Batire, Bourty, Boutier
- Guillaume Généreux Bottiere, born 1823
- Antoine Ferdinand Bottiere, born 1824
In the 1823-1842 birth index (starting on image 1of book 01/01/1823-31/12/1842), there are three children with a surname similar to Bouttier:
- Pierre Paul Batire, born 1832
- Julie Leondie(?) Bourty, born 1832
- Jacques Hyacinthe Boutier, born 1830
Is it possible they were not born within Le Havre itself, but nearby? You mentioned having their parents' marriage record; could you share that here?
You can see a list of genealogists accredited in France at https://www.icapgen.org/professionals/?_region=france (they do not necessarily live there, however, but since the records are online, you may not need someone on the ground; if you do, they may have suggestions as to a local researcher or you can contact a French archive and ask for contact info for local genealogical researchers).

Charlotte Noelle Champenois, thank you for responding to my inquiry regarding two (2) of my ancestors, Leopoldo José Bouttier Ponce and Carlos Bouttier Ponce. I am attaching the marriage record of their parents Jérôme Bouttier and Jeanne Marie Marc.
I will research your suggested site ‘Department Archives of Seine-Maritime’ for additional information. I am grateful for your response and help rendered.
