French soldier in War of 1870-71
I'm wondering if anyone may know where I could find records pertaining to a French soldier who was killed in combat at the battle of Sedan in Sept 1870. Is there a database that contains such information (combat deaths, military burials or the like)?
I know it was a long time ago and a very chaotic time in France's history, but I'm certain some information exists somewhere. On Geneanet I was able to find a record notation of the soldier in question stating his name, date of death and place of death. But I've been unable to find where this record source could be.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Karen. Unfortunately, none of those yielded results for me in my search. I really appreciate your suggestions, though. There are some great sources of information there!
Part of the problem is that "my" soldier was from Paris, and all of the enlistment records (as far as I have been able to determine) from 1870 were lost to fire during the Paris riots of 1871. So that's a huge blow. I think the only option I'm left with is to try to uncover his possible burial record from Sedan. But I don't know if some specific military archive would have that, or the commune of Sedan, or what.
