WWII Deaths

My Mother's 1st Husband was killed in France, threes before VE Day. The town listed in his Obit is Cheveries, France, however I cannot find that town on Google Maps. The closest I can come is Cheverny, France. Can someone tell if there might be a town called Cheveries, and if so might they have newspapers from April 1945? He was killed is a train explosion, which should have made news in the area, as it was rather large. Any assistance would be greatfully appreciated.
