Deleting an Unknown (Spurious) Spouse
Greetings from Swansea, south west Wales,
Whilst browsing a branch of the Global Tree that provided a Grandmother of sufficient Great's ago to be possibly of more interest to others than to me, being: Martha Burden (L523-WDS). the first of three wives of Jasper Dodson (L52S-BRQ), the second wife being: Ann Fowler (L523-Z2Y), the third wife being: [Unknown Name] with no 4+3 identity. I've added a Paste-Up of three Screen Grabs which unfortunately some viewers may find a little difficult to read.
However I was sufficiently interested in this Unknown Person to recall the exchange (seen some days ago, below) where I was advised to remove the spurious children by Merging them, (by using their 4+3 identity), with the genuine children, which causes the Unknown Person to disappear
However as can be seen in the above Screen Grabs the 4+3 identities of both the genuine and spurious child (Worthy Dodson {L12Y-5FR}) are identical.
I don’t know my way around the FamilySearch protocols sufficiently well to make progress, any guidance from a more knowledgeable researcher would be appreciated.

@JohnG_Swansea Hello! I am so glad to see you repost this. I went in and fixed the problem for you. There now is only two wives and no unknown wife or duplicated daughter. I am so sorry this gave you such fits. What I did was go into the daughter of the unknown mother and there is an edit bottom that looks like a pencil in a box, I clicked on that and removed her, which also took care of the unknown mother. Typically, I would not do this with someone else's line, but with all the trouble you were having on trying to work this out, I wanted to help you.
Now, it looks like it should. 😊

As you are fast discovering, Family Tree can be quite mind bending!
You might find it useful to look at some of the training guides I have now posted in the Announcements section. In particular, the BYU Family History Library offers a good range of beginner and intermediate classes that can be accessed via the archive link. These are about an hour in length each but I think you know enough to be beyond the 5-10 minute shorts unless they are on very specific topics of interest.
