Translation of birth record year 1853 from Brienza, Potenza, Italy
I would appreciate the translation of the birth record for Maria Carolina Valvo (on the right) from Brienza, Potenza, Italy. I included the entire image for reference.
In a previous post today, I asked a question about Edmond Mauro's birth records and why there were two different names for his mother. I'm posting this birth record to verify the mother's full name and also requesting the translation.
Question: referring to the birth records of Edmond Mauro, is the name Annantonia Breglia mentioned in this record?
Thank you for your help.

Assuming the child had godparents, yes. Maybe the church records have been lost in catastrophe since then. If not, no guarantee the staff would let you see them.
The document is a notarial act and, as such, it requires two witnesses to be considered valid. They could have been relatives, in-laws, friends, neighbours, or uninterested third-parties. Some genealogists record the witnesses and some programs have a witness attribute attached to media objects to support this. Unless the relationship to the person is stated, it might not be very useful, which is the case here, unless they have a name that's unique to the area to differentiate them from one of the other six Don Fulano de Tal alive at the time.

Thank you for the translation of the birth record. The information about the parents ages and residence is helpful for researching to find their marriage record.
Question: Are the names of the Godparents on the record? If yes, I would appreciate the translation of those persons and any details about them. Perhaps some of them were relatives.
Thank you again,
Debra

No godparents, only the witnesses.

I'm new at researching birth records from Italy. I understand that this record for Maria Carolina Valvo is a civil record and not a Catholic church record, yet this record has the baptism date for Maria. That's why I asked if the names of the godparents were on the record. Thank you for answering my question that there are only witnesses names. So the godparents names would be on the Santa Maria parish record for Maria? Is that correct?
Can you explain about witnesses names on this civil record? Would they be relatives that I would want to know the names of or no?
Thank you for your help.

Thank you for answering my question about godparents in church records. And for your explanation about witnesses and who they may have been in relation to the person. In birth records that I find, I'll look for witnesses that the relationship to the person was stated.
Thank you for your help.

Weird. Marking a post as an answer changes the display order in the thread.

DangKwei,
I know that marking my post as an answer moves it toward the top of the thread. It's probably better that the display order of the thread continues. So I'll mark the initial translation as answered and leave the posts after that as unanswered. Thank you for your comment about the changing of the display order.
