Birth record question...
On this birth record, I do not see anywhere written that the child is illegitimate; however, over to the left, it looks like perhaps the mother Marie Sanguinet married Elie Simon (supposedly the father) on 28 August 1924? Is that right? The child has the mother's name of Sanguinet, not Simon.

Marguerite Simon was born on June 25, 1922, daughter of Marie Sanguinet. (without father).
On August 26, 1924, Elie Simon recognize Marie Sanguinet as his daughter. So Marie Sanguinet become Marie Simon.
These recognitions of children often take place on the parents' wedding day. You are right.
The best thing to do now is to find the marriage certificate.
