I have a friend who has two children. One of them was born out of wedlock. She would like to create a valid record for her daughter's biological father. Is it possible to create a parent's record with the mother and father being unmarried?

Sure, you can add them as if they are married, but in the the Collaborate tab, just mention that they were never married. Looks like the only way to do this.
