Looking for Danish Birth Record on Niels LAURSEN.
I need help locating the birth record for Niels LAURSEN who was born in Elling, Hjoring, Denmark. He was married on 26 September 1794 to Karen NIELSDATTER of Raabjerg, Hjoring, Denmark. They were married in Elling, Hjoring, Denmark. Karen was born 24 July 1768; the assumption is he was born within 5 years of this date. Neils died 30 January 1832 in Smorkrogen, Uglit, Hjorring, Denmark. Thank you for your help.
I am just learning about Genealogy and this post is for an exercise in class. However, I actually do need the complete birthdate.

I have looked through the Elling parish birth/baptism records from January 1762 to December 1772 and there are only 2 children named Niels who had a father named Laurs (Laust, Laurids, Laurits also are possibilities for the father's given name). See Nordic Names Wiki here: https://www.nordicnames.de/wiki/Laust
The first one was baptised 19 February 1764. His baptism record is here (he is the first baptism in 1764): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=470507#470507,84380416. His father is Laust Pedersen and the farm (or village) is Peberont. There is a family in Family Search Tree which has this Niels in it. His PID is KWC8-SZ2. This Niels has a birth of "about 1768" but I am sure that he is the same person, because at least 2 of his siblings also show up in the Elling parish birth records (see below).
His sister, Johanne, baptised the 16th Sunday after Trinity in 1766 (14 Sept 1766) is here (left hand page, entry #26): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=470507#470507,84380421. She has the same father, Laust Pedersen (no mother's name is given) and the farm/village is the same, Peberront. She is a match to L3XB-BT8.
Another sister (Kiessten or Kiersten), baptised 27 August 1769, is here (right hand page, entry #20): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=470507#470507,84380429. Her father is Laust Pedersen and she is also born at Peberont. She is a match to L7J5-TYV.
According to the information on Family Search Tree, this first Niels Laursen is the same as yours.
The second Niels born in Elling between January 1762 and December 1772 is here (right hand page, entry #2): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=470507#470507,84380417. His father's given name is Laust but I can't really figure out his surname-it could be Wirst-and no farm/village is given as a birth place. The baptism date is 6 January 1765.
In verifying some of the information you provided with your question, I discovered Niels Laursen (Lauridsen) and Karen Nielsdatter's engagement/marriage record. The engagement and marriage actually took place in Råbjerg (aka Raabjerg) parish (rather than Elling). That record is here: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=474845#474845,83823408. It is entry 9 in the middle of the right hand page. It says that his name is Niels Lauridsen from Heden in Elling parish and she is Karen Nielsdatter from Uggerssol in Råb(j)erg parish. The date of their engagement is at the beginning of the entry. It is 14 Sundays after Trinity 1794 which is 21 September 1794. The date of their marriage is at the very bottom of the entry. It is 19 Sundays after Trinity which is 26 October 1794 (rather than 26 September). See Feast Days for 1794 here: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Denmark:_Moveable_Feast_Days_in_1794.
How sure are you that you have the correct Niels Larsen in the death record? I question it, because the death record for the Niels Laursen who dies on 30 January 1832 indicates that he was 70 years old when he died, giving his birth year as 1762. Your information may be correct (death records can be off that much), but it would be useful to know when he moved to Ugilt. Ugilt is not far from Elling (only about 15 miles as the crow flies) so it is entirely possible. That death record is here (first entry in 1832): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=409871#409871,75906623.

Norm,
Thank you so much for your help. It has taken me a bit to find this page again, I should have bookmarked it. I was not sure I would get a reply and you gave a lot of information. There are pages you supplied that coincide with the classes I have. I am taking paleography and will be studying Sandinavean scripts. You gave me material to work on that is of more personal nature. Also, we just delved into calenders so thanks for that practical example on Feast Days.
Thanks again
