TAGS
I wonder if some of you who have been using TAGS - both in the COMMUNITY as well as in FAMILYTREE MEMORIES - can provide concrete examples of how this option has helped you
It seems like a great feature to me - just want to more concretely understand how different people are leveraging it to their benefit.

I love Tags in FamilySearch. When myself or anyone else questions and then goes to Edit to change any of the vital information it is very helpful to have the source right there to see and ponder rather you really need a change or not. Has saved me from making incorrect edits, as those correct sources that are Tagged are the greatest. I love them.
Have noticed that some tags are not automatically being added. I haven't found out why but it is a good thing to check when you add a new source to make sure all applicable tags are adde.
Also it is really great that if you notice a source that hasn't been tagged to go ahead to get that cute little tag attached to that vital source.

but "tag" as a more generic term has numerous meanings and applications.

Yes, when I use Tags, I am clicking on a person's face in memories and naming the person in the field that appears, so that photo appears on the Person's Page Memories.

Yes "tag" can have various meanings over the expanse of all of FamilySearch.
In Memories it is how we name the link we create in a memory to attach it to a specific person in Family Tree
In Family Search Community we are usually talking about "topic tags' that allow us to mark a post (in community) as related to certain 'topics' or subjects - which then allows us to relate/link different posts that all use the same topic tag. (similar to how hashtags in twitter)
I am probably leaving something out - and there may be an additional use for the same term in FS
thus when we use the word tag - we kind of need to explain which definition we have in mind.

I posted awhile back about missing Source Tags but it was over the holidays so I didn't get a big response. I'm also not sure that I explained it very well so will try again.
It seems that in the past, Source Tags weren't added automatically like they are now. Today, when you attach a Source the Tags are added automatically which is lovely. Sources that were attached 2014 and before very likely do not have Tags. You can see this by clicking on a Source and checking the number of Tags. If it says "0" then they didn't get attached.
Why is this important you ask? Let's say you are on a person's Details page and you want to see the Sources that apply to the Birth of that person. If you click the Edit button next to Birth it shows all of the Sources that support the Birth Fact and more importantly, the actual bits info so that you can compare dates/places and select the best info to display in the Birth Fact. If you have several Sources that say PA but only one that says WV then PA may be the more likely Place. If you have a Source-Birth Certificate then it is probably more accurate for the Birth Fact than a Source-Death Certificate because that info was recorded closer to when the event actually occurred. Ok, all of that being said, how do Source Tags fit in? The Tags are the actual bits of information from the Source: Name, Sex, Birth, Christening, Death, Burial. A Source-Birth Certificate probably has Tags for Name, Gender, Birth. A Source-Death Certificate probably has Tags for Name, Gender, Birth, and Death and possibly Burial. Now, if a mother/father is listed on a record for a child then they would probably only have Tags for Name and Gender. You wouldn't select Birth for a Father that is listed on his child's Birth Source because it supports the Birth Fact of the child rather than the Father.
What can you do if the Tags are missing? You can click on the Source>Tag and select them yourself, but it is much easier and quicker to let the system add them automatically. How? You just detach/reattach the Source. How? Select Source>Review Attachments then detach/reattach. I suggest that you do this for each person that is attached to this Source because they will most likely have the same problem with missing Tags. Be sure to add a msg when detaching that indicates why you are doing this i.e., "Detach/reattach to auto add Tags".
Is there an easy way to see if all of the Tags are attached rather than looking at each Source? Yes. Look on the Details page where it shows Sources with the number of Sources next to it. Now look in Vitals>Name and see how many Sources show there. If the numbers don't match then there is a Source missing a Tag. All Sources should at least have a Name Tag - I haven't found any exceptions so far. Now you can jump over to Sources and look down the list for Sources that were added 2014 and before (note that I have even found some 2018 Sources missing Tags). Click and see if Tags=0. If so, follow the directions above to auto add Tags. Be sure to refresh the page afterwards. Check the Details page (may also need to refresh) and compare the number of Sources until they match up. Note that you will probably need to add a Name Tag to Legacy Sources to get the numbers to match up.
