I have an execution of an ancestor who knifed and killed a deputy in a drunken incident; others I have found: one who was deported to Australia as a young man for larceny, one who was jailed for neglect of family, one who served three years for death of her baby. The more criminal records are released, the more it becomes more common. I have also found several tragic happenings for ward members as well. Thank goodness we no longer adhere to the belief that there must be "bad blood" in the family.
My view of these events is that we are in no position to judge.

I have a sweet one from 1917 where a relative (not direct ancestor!) was speeding and chased down by the police. The police had the gas pedal all the way down and they barely overtook my relative...at 45 miles per hour.

I have plenty but also have some positive (using the Encyclopedia of Arkansas). My first cousin 3x removed was James Phillip Eagle, the 16th Governor of Arkansas. There are some "scoundrels" hiding around too!
