I was born the same day that the future Queen Elizabeth got married. We celebrated together. LOL

My wedding reception was on 4th of July. So when my husband and I kissed, there really were fireworks!

Now you have got that wrong. My birthday is the 3rd of July so the fireworks are for my birthday. People just buy so many of them that they are still using them for your anniversary.

Do you realize that we are working a week ahead? I just posted this prompt early so that we have time to research and think about it. Of course, it doesn't really matter which prompt you write about. I am excited that others want to record memories!

I thought that I would check the newspapers for the date that my Great Grandparents were married. I looked at chroniclingamerica.loc.gov . I love this site, but I found that it was more difficult than I expected to find the exact date that I wanted. I was fascinated with some of the pages that showed clothing styles and I thought that this would be something that I would share about. Surely a couple in their early 20's would be concerned with fashion when they were getting married.
Instead, I remembered something that my great grandmother told me. I have some notes that I wrote in the early 80's when I interviewed her. My note said: Was old enough to vote when daughter was born. She probably actually said that she could vote soon after her daughter was born.
I now think that she didn't say old enough to vote. I just realized that she was talking about having the right to vote! How I wish that I had asked her if she was involved in the Suffragette movement.
https://womenvote.dced.pa.gov/ Great photos and historical information for Pennsylvania.
Researching the wedding date of my great grandparents gave me insight into their lives. I had not thought about how the Suffrage Fight had involved my ancestors.
