Please translate this birth record for Ingeborg Born on 7 Dec 1748 Eid local parish, Hornindal local parish, Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway

The information in family search doesn't seem to match, Ingeborg Olsdatter LRZZ-7MP

This is really hard to read. But it does not have much information. Just her christening date of 7 Dec. 1728. (Which is not her birth date and should be recorded in Family Tree under Christening, not Birth.) Then her father's name which is clearly Ola. The rest I can't read until it comes to barn (child) and Ingeborg. Then is the list of fadderne or witnesses so just a string of names of friends, neighbors, and possible relatives.

 

Fortunately, this set of records has been transcribed by Norwegian volunteers under the auspices of the Norwegian National Archives. These are usually complete transcriptions of very high quality. Which shows that the two words between Ole and barn are "Pedersen Frieslien." Now staring at the record you can figure out how this priest writes.

 

So the record states:

 

Den 7th Dec. døpt ved Horningdal Ole Pedersen Friesliens barn Ingeborg, fadder:...

 

The 7th Dec. christened at Horningdal Ole Pedersen Frieslien's child Ingeborg, witnesses/sponsors/godparents: ...

 

If this were my family and I were working in Family Tree, I would make the following corrections in Ingeborg's record based on this christening record:

 

Ingeborg Olsdatter Frieslien

Birth: 1748, Frieslien, Eid, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway

Christening 7 Dec 1748, Horningdal Kirke, Eid, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway

 

Some people, to be as complete as possible, would enter her birth as:

Birth: 1748, Frieslien, Horningdal, Eid, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway

if known for sure that that Frieslien was in Horningdal local parish and it wasn't that Ingeborn's family lived in Eid or Stårheim local parish and just went to Horningdal local parish for the christening. That would happen as the priest would often serve at multiple churches and only be at one of them each Sunday.

it is hard to tell if the farm is currently in Horningal parish or over the boundary in Eid parish. And who knows where the boundary was in 1748! In any event, it would have been a quick boat ride up the lake to Horningdal Kirke if the priest was not at Eid Kirke the day Ingeborg had to be christened.

It is correct. Her name is Ingeborg and her father is Ole Pedersen and she was christened 7 December the dauther of Ole Pedersen and then the witnesses to the christening.

Thank you Gordon. As always a very detailed reply with lots of information for me to consider and to learn. Reading these 1700 entries has been hard as their handwriting is so different. I perused the whole 14 page document before I messaged and could grasp other priest’s handwriting, but this particular one was illegible to me and my husband. I appreciate you teaching me how to read it, as this is where I’ll be working for a while.The information for the 1700’s in Western Norway is very limited. I could only find the chronological list. And I didn’t know how to read it. As the 1800’s books are different. I came across this record that someone else had entered and it had no sources listed, so I wanted to verify it through the digital archive. Thanks again for helping me understand how to read this, and where to go to find more information to make my searching easier. I really need to learn to read Norwegian.
