Ross Townships in various counties of Ohio are misrepresented
If you search for "Ross Ohio" it will give you a list of "Ross Township"s in Jefferson, Greene, Wood, and Butler counties. In spite of the same dates, all of these are pinned at the same identical place in Ohio (i.e., the village of Ross in Butler County). So the Jefferson county version is shown all the way over on the opposite side of the state in Butler county. According to the historical maps of Ohio and county lines, non of these counties contained areas that were in any of the other counties at any other time.
Also Ross county has been given an alternate of Ross Township. I'm not sure that that was ever true. It appears that the "Ross" things in Ohio need to be cleaned up.

I didn't see the reference to Ross Township as an alternate name in Ross County's entry, but I did fix the Wikipedia and latitude/longitude coordinates for all of the Ross Townships outside of Butler County. Thanks.

Thanks for that! The reference that you referred to shows up on the different Ross Township locations. For example:
But "Ross" is a populated place within Ross Township in Butler county. So it would seem that "Ross" is an inappropriate alternate for "Ross Township" (i.e., discerning the difference between Ross, Ross Township, Butler, Ohio and Ross, Butler, Ohio.
Anyway, not sure if this should be tweaked or not.
This same alternate shows up for the Ross Townships in Jefferson and Greene counties in Ohio.

By the way, why is this site now refusing to upload .JPEG files?

Ah, ok, I see. Having the short form without the government type as an alternate name is extremely common for townships -- I checked about a dozen in all different parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and they all had it (including the townships I checked in very remote locations).

Ok. I suppose that is because many townships end up with a town in them with the same name as the township.
