Can someone please help with the translation of this birth record. This birth record can be found in
the Zamrsk Archives in the parish of Chrast in the birth register 921 1800-1816, page 635, record 1.
I am interested in the parents names and the name of the village. This is what I think I know about this record: The child's name is Josef, he was born 8 December 1804, His father is Josef Nemecek, his mother is Katerina Zegdowa the village may be Syncany. Any other information you can add will be appreciated.
Thank You

Could you please send me a link to the archive record? I like to use www.genteam.at as a gazetteer. It is free but you must register. You can start typing the town's name in the search box and it comes up with possibilities. The second help would be www.mapy.cz and to the map before the 19th century. Then you can see how the town's spellings changed. Check the map to see if any towns are close by spelled like the records. I have some more comments for you but am too tired tonight. I will be back in the morning.

Hi @Lewis Klapka ,
You have the correct child's name and father (both named Josef Nemecek) but the mother's name is Katerina Matejčkowa from Zidlow[?] (her father was Jiří Matejček). Josef Nemecek's occupation is chalupnik, a cottager or peasant.

Mckenna,
Can you tell the name of the village where the child was born?
Thank You

Oh yes, it's Silnice (spelled Sylnyicich at the top of the page: the -ich at the end is grammatical)

born and christened 8 December 1804, infant Josef, Father is Josef Nemecek chalupnik (cottager, poor peasant, has 5-6 acres, owns beast, usually 2 cows, two oxens), Mother is Katerina Zegdowa daughter of Jiri_ Matej. I am not sure of the town's names.

I see a possible town name after Josef's occupation. I cannot figure out the first letter then es_li? Katerina' village was found on the other side of the page. I am including a snippet. I am still trying to figure it out. It would help if I could read the first letter of Josef's place W

The word after Josef's occupation is actually a continuation of the priest's signature, not a town unfortunately.

@McKenna Cooper, Yes, now I see that. Thanks! How would you spell the village for the wife, please?

Betseylee and McKenna
Thank you both for the effort you have put into this translation.
Since you disagree on the maiden name of the Mother, is it possible to take a second look at the record and perhaps come to an agreement on the mother's maiden name?
Thank You

I'm not sure where you are seeing Zegdowa @Betseylee Browning. I read Katerjna, rozeny po Jiri Matejčkowy ze Zi?owy[?] = Katerina, born of [daughter of] Jiri Matecek from Z??ow[?] (possibly Zidov--it's pretty illegible).

I think I got my translation out of order. It is Katerina d/o Jiri Matejčkowy from Z__. That town is hard to figure out and I have searched maps and tried my best.
