Trying to find parentage of a Native American ancestor
Lillian May Lovejoy, also went by Lillah and Lillie, perhaps Lulu, was born in Stockbridge, VT between 1861-1864. She reported in official records that both parents were born in Vermont. Our family genealogist believes she called her father "Albert" and her mother "Ann," which we know could be a middle or nickname. There is a family that fits this information perfectly, an Albert E and Sarah Ann but this is not our ancestor. Photographs clearly show her Native American heritage.
She is found in the 1880 census in Detroit working in a hotel, her age reported 15. It is not known whether her parents moved with her to Michigan. Lovejoys who did come here in that period have no child near her name. We next find her in her first marriage, at 16, and then at 18 married to John C. Richardson, our ancestor on their farm in Foster Twp., Ogemaw, (central) MI.
We'd be thrilled with any information to help us get un-stuck and especially her parentage.

Pamela; Can you provide the record ID for Lillian? It would help us in your search.

Per MyHeritage, Lillian May Lovejoy was born July 1866 in Stockbridge, and was married in 1882 to John Churchill Richardson, who was born in Detroit in 1849. Lillian and John had at least 7 children; Lillian died in 1921.

This is great news, Jessica. Thanks so much! Alas, some of this could have been published by our early genealogist who assumed some facts based on the census. Lillian wrote that she was born in Vermont and presently we're trying to find any evidence of this as well of course any hint of her parentage.
