What were Temple Sealing policies back in the 1880s?

Does anyone have recommendations of sources to confirm old pioneer sealings? My third great Aunt’s husband FS record was just merged on Familysearch to 12 new women he was sealed to in the Manti Temple in the late 1880s. No sources attached, just the sealing ordinance complete. (He was living and working in Manti at that time and already had two confirmed wives. I cannot find info on any other women and some are listed as having died before the sealing occurred.)

 

Just wondering if there are resources explaining the types of polygamy/sealings that were done in early pioneer history.
