Bridget Gallagher b 12 Jan 1839 County Sligo
Father James b 1808 County Sligo. Mother Maria "Anna" McFarlin? Trying to confirm name of mother and location of Bridget. She is not with family in Newcastle during 1861 census. One source has a Bridget marrying Isaac Cocks in Glen Cove, NY in 1860.

In 1839, most Catholic (I'm assuming she's Catholic like the vast majority of the population- If not, say so and I'll offer different advice) parishes were keeping baptism records. However some, especially those in the western and rural areas of Ireland, were not. You can search these records by name at both Ancestry and FindMyPast, and browse the images at the website of the National Library of Ireland. However be very careful to not get mixed up between two different people with the same name. The Irish had very little variety in both first- and sur-names.

Dear Charles
I have looked at your message and i see you are trying to find Bridget Gallagher mothers name and also the whereabouts of Bridget as she was not in the 1861 census. I have had a search into this and what i came up with is this , First of all 3 birth dates for a Bridget Gallagher one in 1837 in Castleconner Sligo Fathers name James Mothers Name Anna Bigley . Second Bridget Gallagher Born 5th March 1838 born in Roscommon near Sligo Fathers Name James, mothers name Anna Mallany and lastly Bridget Gallagher born 19th Sept 1840 Fathers Name Jacobi which is latin for James, Mothers name Maria Flanagan born in Roscommon. i could not find a Bridget Gallagher born in 1839 in Sligo. When i searched for Bridgets whereabouts around 1861 to 1868 the only information i could find was on the Prison Registers and i found a Bridget Gallagher 30 years old born 1838 5 foot 2 inch tall Brown hair R.C. She was a prisoner in Sligo jail in 1868 send down with 2 Sisters named Pentergast they received 10 days for having in there possession A Quantity of Cloth deemed to be Stolen. I hope this is of help to you i ts very hard to search beyond 1864 to find people, you have to rely on parish records because nearly all records where burned in a fire in our Civil war here in 1922. Please let me know if i was in any way helpful to you in your search you never know what might come to light with some of this information i have given you.
May you find happiness in your work in your Family Tree.
